We invite you to join our social work and support staff as we implement one of the most innovative public child welfare programs in the country. The Children's Division provides exciting and challenging opportunities for staff to work with families in the area of child abuse/neglect. The agency's family centered, strengths based philosophy allows staff to utilize the many community resources available to assist families in obtaining the services and support they need.
Our community based approach allows our staff to serve families in the communities in which they live. The organization is divided into six "offices" serving specific communities and neighborhoods of the greater Kansas City area. A main office building houses staff working in the city of Kansas City as well as Administrative staff, Personnel and Staff Training. Offices are also located in Eastern and Southern Jackson County making services close and accessible to the communities they serve. In addition, a variety of staff positions are out-based in the community in such places as schools and police departments.
Our structure provides varied career opportunities. Social work staff may be assigned to work in any of the following areas:
* Child Abuse/Neglect Assessments and Investigations
* Intensive In Home Services
* Family Centered Services
* Kinship Care

Multiple opportunities may be available for staff seeking a Masters of Social Work degree. Through collaboration with several colleges/universities in Missouri and the University of Kansas, staff have opportunities to participate in several programs to complete their MSW on a part-time or full-time basis. Employees selected into these programs must commit to working for the agency for a specified timeframe upon completion of their degree.
All employees must adhere to the Missouri Merit System for employment. A completed Merit System Application must be submitted to the centralized Office of Personnel to determine eligibility for the position. Once determined eligible, all candidates will be scheduled to take the Missouri Merit exam.
