Andre excels at putting together puzzles, and very much enjoys this activity.
The purpose of the information provided below is to briefly introduce you to this child for whom our agency is recruiting an adoptive placement:
Andre is an energetic boy. Andre has thick black hair, big brown eyes, and dimples that show off his smile. He is of average height and weight for his age, weighing about 60 lbs., and is about 4’ tall. Andre is diagnosed with autism.
Andre is fascinated with toys that make music or sounds. His favorite toy is a fire truck that makes siren sounds. Andre very much enjoys playing outside, and likes to play football. Andre excels at putting together puzzles, and very much enjoys this activity. He is able to sit down and look at the puzzle pieces, and then put them together without rearranging.
Andre has an IEP and is in special education classes at school. He receives occupational and speech therapy. Andre excels in athletics and the other students encourage him in PE class in relays and other athletic activities.
Andre strives to be independent. He dresses himself before school and makes cereal for himself. He uses the restroom without assistance when prompted. Andre uses sign language and picture cards to communicate his needs, as he is not verbal.
Andre has had one placement, and has formed close attachments to several staff members. He interacts well with other children.
An adoptive family for Andre will need to be knowledgeable of Andre’s special needs, and capable of meeting those needs. Andre is in need of a forever family that will make a lifetime commitment to caring for him. Andre is not legally free from adoption; Termination of parental rights is underway.
